Heart Mission

Juliana

Juliana is an eleven-month old female whose condition was very complicated. The doctors' diagnosis was an Interrupted Aortic Arch coupled with a Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). With this condition, the aorta and pulmonary arteries are reversed, resulting in oxygen poor blood being pumped back through her body and oxygen rich blood being pumped to her lungs. Amazingly, she also had a VSD and an ASD, which is how she was able to survive in her condition. During the surgery, the doctors took her left carotid artery and connected her arch, but Juliana will require additional surgery to repair the TGA.
