Vision Mission
CINI's first annual Vision Mission, held in October 2008, was a huge success. We hope to be able to fund this mission annually each fall at the Eye Specialty Hospital in Amman, Jordan. CINI, Our Children International USA and a number of private donors were able to fund a total of nine surgeries. Their maladies ranged from bilateral congenital cataracts, from which three children in the same family were suffering, to nystagmus. Whether the child needs operations on both eyes or just one, the results are dramatic and immediate. What a joy it is to see a child's reaction to being able to see for the first time at all or more clearly than they have ever been able to before!
The mission in its entirety only takes a week from the time the children arrive to the day they leave to go home. Most of the children only are in the hospital for two to three hours and then are able to stay with their chaperon at a nearby hotel. The children are then able to have their follow up appointments in their own countries.
In this particular mission, CINI's funds cover the costs of roundtrip transportation to and from their home country, lodging, and all medical expenses. Click here for more information on 2008's Vision Mission participants.
